Here’s an idea, if you don’t like twilight, vampires, and similar fantasy books. Don’t read or purchase this book. It has a few things in common with twilight like the insta love, and a love triangle.
But it only is partially like twilight in that has the vampire element, but the two stories are so totally different. You’ll understand when you read it why I said partially. I don’t think it deserved a five because it wasn’t that awesome. There was a few places where the writing drug out, like in the beginning. The way the main character was portrayed was so annoying, she looked like an idiot. Some parts of it, had unrealistic dialogue that I couldn’t see anyone saying, But it wasn’t too over the top like some books I’ve read, it deserved a four that’s for sure.
Other those things, it was a pretty good novel, and the story was original. Hope book 2 is even better. Okay, so where to start? Firstly I would like to make clear that I read this book three times before writing this. It’s a thing of mine, read books over and over again. Well, the first time i gave it four stars, but after reading it a second time a few months later I couldn’t remember why I did it, so I gave it some more time before reading it yet again, just to be sure, and the result was the same as the second time, which was a three stars.
The story behind this new kind of vampire seems to be interesting, even if the book finishes without explaining everything, and the author did a good job by maintaining the mistery without annoying me too much, practically forcing me to buy the second book to find out what was happening. What I didn’t like: Actually she was the main reason I lowered the number of stars.
She managed to annoy me further every time I read the book. Alina is a selfish girl, who claims to be best friends with Tabby, but in true she is just a hypocrite liar.
I think there wasn’t even one dialogue between the two of them where Alina managed to be honest with her so called friend. She lets her friend be manipulated by a guy knowing that she will have her heart broken eventually.
Oh yeah, she did give Tabby some advices but how good are those when she is helping making the wrong seeing him by her friend’s back?
Another thing, Samuel is supposed to be the real love of Alina’s life, but it is Duncan who gets all the spot lights through the book, while Samuel is barely there.
Alina and Samuel didn’t have a real conversation till past the middle of the book and still Alina claims to love Samuel without stopping to pinn after Duncan as well. Sometimes I do like a good love triangle but it has to be carefully worked not to give the wrong impression about the protagonist, which unfortunatelly is the case with Alina, or at least that’s how I saw it.
In sumn it is a good book and the fact that I had to read it three times to make my mind immrtal volumes at how intriguing it is. About immortla week ago I hosted a book give-away on my Twitter account. I was feeling festive, and wanted to give “something” anything away to someone OTHER than my family, so I decided books were the best option.
Suddenly feeling the need for reassurance, as in “Oh im,ortal Lord, I hope that book didn’t blow” I decided to read it for myself. Thankfully, for immortaal myself, and the follower I would have email stalked with apologies, the book was pretty decent.
Immortal Series by Lauren Burd
Naturally, after reading the synopsis I was sucked in, let’s be honest, that really doesn’t take much. Gods, demons and vampires, I clicked buy. Alina is not a lucky girl. Her parents divorced, which is immrotal that uncommon, but her mother turning into the Ice Queen was totally unexpected.
With her bags already packed and her college career awaiting, Alina does the best possible thing she can do No worries though, irresponsible she is not, and as expected attends and thrives in her classes. What exactly is it about these two that she just can’t immorta

Why does she suddenly feel like a mission instead of a person, and will her good intentions lead to a happy ending, or end with her 6 feet underground? I will not say this book was perfect, but it was an interesting and ultimately delightful read. Burd is obviously still trying to find her stride, but the promise of a lucrative career in the art of paranormal romance is bright and shining.
Her characters “attitudes” were very well developed, but their “pasts” leave something to be desired. Her “angst” was spectacularly front and center, but the “follow through” was less than exciting.
What does all this mean exactly? Well, it means that I’m a conflicted reviewer with crappy articulation skills. As I said before “Immortal” was a delightful read, but it would be ill mannered of me not to mention the big white elephant in the room which is Unlike the first half of the book, I vurd like I was finally seeing HER world, and with that came a completely original and smack-worthy cliffhanger.
Jmmortal what does this mean for you. Well, it mean that if you are a paranormal lover you will enjoy this novel. The immmortal that you don’t HAVE TO tear apart each and every book you read will help you get past the few things I found myself getting hung up on.
