It does get a bit repetitive, but only to induce several mantras that end up being really effective when used. I can’t wait to read her other books.

Follow the Author
This is merely an esthetic point, of course, but it does I think reveal that little or no actual proofreading was endeavored in the production of this edition. After reading this book I now understand that this is a map, a memory palace and a structure. There’s a problem loading this menu right now. When her presentation of this system and it is a system works, it works hard.
So if you read The MQ, prepare for a few cringe worthy moments. The Mystical Qabalah is far and away the best introduction to the esoteric tradition of the Kaballah available.
Even worse, absolutely no attempt has been made to reconcile the pagination of the reprint vs. Dense as heck, but thoughtful and sensible, as is most of Dion Fortune’s writings. My interest being primarily to use the Kabbalah as a vehicle to aid thought, I skipped through all the discussion of invocations and ether and psychic emanations.

This is a book you can read a few times and still enjoy it. This mighty, all-embracing glyph of the soul of man and of the universe, by virtue of its logical association of symbols, evokes images in the mind; but these images are not randomly evolved, but follow along well-defined association-tracks in the Universal Mind.

It has proved utterly invaluable to me in my early studies of occultism; I now have a wealth of starter knowledge on the Sephiroth, and how to get at subjective pathworking. Fortune’s writing style is more accessible and practically oriented than is offered by most occult writers. My first book on the Qabalah and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the topic.

Here they lay out more modern findings, couching the authors work in some practical guidance on moving from sphere to sphereor, from one state of perception to another more integrative one. It is a book about the Tree of Life but not the more mundane Kabalah but rather a higher plane perspective.
Oct 11, S Shah rated it liked it. Her pseudonym was inspired by her family motto “Deo, non fortuna” Latin for “by God, not fate”. If studied and each item meditated upon it would take a long time and in some cases it would be beneficial to have a lot of background or a guide. Granted I’m still a newbie — but from what I’ve read so far qabaalah is a lot and based on reviews and recommendations from teachers, fellow students, and good ol’ Amazon.
Want to Read Currently Reading Read. It’s qabala the Tree of Life, which is made up of the Holy Sephiroth, the emanations or “God-names” that focus principle archetypes behind evolving human activities. I read this book many years ago when I was first being introduced to Qabalah. Pay no attention to the “Date Added” and “Date Finished” above.
This is the best introduction to what can seem overwhelming at the start.
Of further tremendous value, and a pleasant and unexpected bonus, was the afterword by modern adepts of the authors school. The Tree of Life: Oct 27, Amanda rated it it was amazing.
