I frankly think my son was as excited to see animaila book appear as his wife was; this is one of the memorable books from his childhood. One baxe my favourite books from years ago, I finally picked up a copy for myself the other day. I found a copy for a friend’s grandchild. Amazon Music Stream millions of songs.

On that page alone, little kids can point to a dog or a dragon, older children can pick out dynamite or Doctor Who, and adults can feel smug at identifying the hard stuff.
We hunted down little Graemes for an hour. As an additional challenge, the author has hidden a picture of himself as a child in every picture. PW called this intricately detailed, oversized rgaeme book “a delightful visual feast,” praising Base’s “meticulous” and “far-reaching” artistry.
There are all kinds of animals, instruments, food and miscellany on the page that starts with the letter. They both gave it 5 stars and they want to keep the book. Whereupon you have to scour through each page all over again to find Graeme!
This book is not just for kids who are learning their letters. There are a few p There’s two ways to do an alphabet book. Some of the pictures that are hidden are easy to identify and some are bae harder to identify. I love what he did with ‘X’.

The book is light and colorful and delightful to look at. View all 3 comments. Although I do quite enjoy Graeme Base’s Animalia as a general concept, the intricate and involved illustrations do seem incredibly over busy and much too in-one’s-face for them to ever be even remotely considered personal favourites as I tend to rather crave and even require visual simplicity and unclutteredness, and sadly, upon rereading Animaliathe over-busyness actually started to give me a bit of a sick headache.

Animalia 25th Anniversary Edition | Graeme Base
I think my son animalja daughter-in-law will have as much fun looking at this book with their children as I did paging through it. It’s a great book that works on so many levels.
Or the inscription of 6th June, D-Day, you with me? The illustrations contain many other objects beginning with that letter that the reader can try to identify.
I recently saw this book, and I gravitated towards it and was again with my nose inside. Animalia was first published inthree years before The Eleventh Hour.
