Vienna is one of the most beautiful historical capitals along the Danube, and it is located in the heart of Europe at the gate to the middle and lower reaches of the Danube River. The history of the city of Vienna is closely linked to the development and dynamics of the Danube River, its tributaries and the extensive network of smaller running water systems within the city limits of Vienna.
By being the link between Western and Eastern Europe, the EU countries, former East Block countries, and the Black Sea area of the near East, this city represents an ideal focal point when it comes to past achievements and future perspectives for a joint Europe. Similarly, the city as a European capital represents the virtues of all European countries and stands as their representative during this conference.
Vienna’s artistic and intellectual legacy was shaped by residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. The city is also known for its Imperial palaces, including Schönbrunn, the Habsburgs’ summer residence. In the MuseumsQuartier district, historic and contemporary buildings display works by Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt and other artists.
Vienna is beautiful (!) as shown in the video of the two Viennese independent film producers Thomas Pöcksteiner and Peter Jablonowski:
